Multiple Sclerosis

Did you know that people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) can improve their fatigue, mood, and quality of life using progressive resistance training with a skilled clinician? Therapy can also be helpful at decreasing secondary symptoms of MS, such as pain and fatigue.

FOX physical and occupational therapists teach effective exercises that focus on stretching and strengthening muscles to patients with MS.

How Physical and Occupational Therapy Can Help

Increase Walking Speed

  • Provide balance training programs to increase walking speed and decrease risk of falls

Decrease Fatigue

  • Education on energy conservation to improve mood and increase daily energy levels

Improve ADL Function

  • Aerobic exercises to improve functional outcomes and psychological well-being
  • Education and training on strategies for increased independence with ADLs
  • Training on how to safely be an active participant in society to decrease risk of depression
