FOX Rehabilitation and PT Day of Service

Published On 10.3.18

Date: October 13, 2018

We are excited to share with you that on Saturday, October 13th FOX will be participating in Global PT Day of Service. In addition to our participation,  we will also be supporting the event as a platinum sponsor.

To make this initiative a success, we’re asking our clinicians for support.

Global PT Day of Service is a charitable organization started by two physical therapists in 2015.

From the site, the co-founders thought, “What if we picked one day of the year to perform acts of service in our communities together as a profession? Collectively our efforts would be amplified and the results would benefit our communities.”

So, for the last three years, PT Day of Service has done exactly that. To date, thousands of physical therapists from more than 55 countries have pledged to serve under PTDOS. These efforts have ranged from volunteering at soup kitchens, Habitat for Humanity, or park clean ups.

We are asking our clinicians to serve their community as a representation of our mission of believing in the strength of people, a celebration of our twenty years of serving older adults, and our profession as a whole.

FOX clinicians and loved ones participate in the American Parkinson Disease Association Optimism Walk in Long Island, NY.

How Can You Help?

1. Pledge to participate at ptdayofservice.com.

Just tell them that “I’m in” by clicking this link.

2. Find a place to serve.

Whatever service moves you, that’s what you should do. Keep in mind that this doesn’t have to be specific to physical therapy. People have served those serving in the armed forces, people experiencing homelessness, and much more.

You can create a service project yourself or FOX has selected two acts of service that both greatly help the community and can be done easily within our footprint.

3. Serve.

On Saturday, October 13th participate in a community service!* Life is a series of exchanges between people, whether it’s communication, goods, resources, money, etc. Those exchanges can be categorized into three buckets:

  • Criminal exchange: you get less than what you expected (poor/no service)
  • Fair exchange: you get exactly what you expected (adequate service)
  • Exchange of abundance: you get more than what you expected (an exceptional interaction)

This project is an amazing, living exchange of abundance and a gift that we can’t wait to see shared with our communities.

4. Spread the word!

Make good work well known! Take a picture of yourself and the volunteers beside you serving. Share it on your personal social media accounts. Some great places to share are Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, as well as our new FOX clinicians Facebook group.

Feel free to reach out to us with the amazing things that you do. If you want FOX to make that message spread even further, send it to PTDOS@foxrehab.org. Your photo submissions may be posted to the public FOX Facebook page!

*If you can’t participate on that exact date, is it ok to do it before or after? Absolutely: It’s completely okay if your act of service is at a different time due to other scheduled life activities. The goal is service, please don’t let the date stop you from joining us! Please email us if you have any question!
