FOX’s Recommendations for Physical Therapy: Proper Strength Training

Published On 4.25.19
Because FOX Rehabilitation provides physical therapy to older adults under Medicare Part B, we are able to treat those who are not homebound, yet may not be able to get to an outpatient clinic at the recommended frequency for optimal outcomes.

FOX strives to ensure that these older adults receive proper care from physical therapists that is prescribed and dosed appropriately. Exercise interventions have potent effects on strength, balance, and aerobic capacity when prescribed at specific levels of intensity, frequency, and duration. Using current best evidence, FOX aims to include its clinicians in its guide to exercise dosage that emphasizes patient-specific interventions across the spectrum of exercise.

In this series of position papers, we provide you with the articles that helped build our guide to exercise dosage for the older adult. Specific areas will include strength, balance, and aerobic training for older adults across the continuum of health status.
