PT Voice: Speaking for Yourself and Your Profession

Thu | Jan 24 | 8-10am

Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 103B | 801 Mt. Vernon Place NW, Washington, DC 20001

Speakers:
Megan Valenzano, PT, DPT, GCS
Kara Gainer, JD
Diana Kornetti, PT, MA
Bud Langham, PT, MBA
Karen Litzy, PT, DPT

From APTA: “Growing as a professional has become more than expanding clinical skills. With the frequent changes in practice and policy, it is imperative that physical therapists can speak about issues as they arise. However, development of these skills is not the focus of most clinically-based continuing education. This session will provide a unique opportunity for anyone looking to expand their ability to speak for themselves and their profession. The speakers will define key advocacy concepts and strategies to develop a professional voice. Physical therapists will be provided time to apply these principles by developing their own messages related to client advocacy, management concerns, health policy, or any other professional experience. All attendees will be allowed to present their case to a panel of industry leaders a la NBC’s ‘The Voice.’  Upon completion of each mini-talk, panelists will provide feedback and determine the best professional mentor to help develop their professional voice.”
