COVID-19 has limited interactions between therapists and patients. This poses increasing problems for persons living with dementia who have already historically had less interpersonal interaction.
This webinar provides tactical steps for clinicians and caregivers to make engagement with patients living with dementia more effective in focusing on learning and meeting patients’ needs.
Participants will be shown:
- How to list the essential elements of person-centered care and how they apply to interpret behavioral expressions
- How communication changes for people with dementia
- How clinicians and caregivers can improve their connection with each patient
- How to apply person-centered care principles for people with dementia who are facing isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic
We’ll be joined by Cathy Ciolek, PT, DPT, FAPTA — the owner of Living Well With Dementia. Cathy has been a physical therapist for over 30 years and is a board-certified geriatric clinical specialist as well as a certified dementia practitioner and a certified Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care trainer. She was recognized as a Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association.
