Senior living is experiencing an increase in residents, and those residents are moving in at an older age and have multiple comorbidities. This leaves them less mobile and more dependent.
Even having the correct medications to address their comorbidities and properly managing those medications doesn’t necessarily address this issue. To help older-adult residents become truly healthy, functional wellness must be a pillar of senior living communities’ practices.
How can we bridge the gap between medical wellness to functional wellness and improve the overall quality of life? Without addressing functional wellness, high residential turnover rates insue — an issue throughout senior living.
Exercise is a major component of overall wellness due to its impact on function and human physiology. So what does that look like when optimized on a day-to-day basis within senior living?
