Personal Statement from Dr. Robyn Kjar

“Championing the next generation of leaders and clinicians has always been one of the most important things to me. I am thrilled that Dr. Buccafurni will be assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer and excited to see upward mobility for him, which will trigger the cascade of opportunities for the rest of the team. I want to thank all my FOX colleagues with whom I have had the privilege to work since 2002. It has been the greatest honor of my life to carry on Dr. Fox’s vision and legacy. He was the true visionary back in 1998, and I hope I have demonstrated some of his spirit and have moved the practice forward since. As Advisor to the Practice, I will remain FOX’s dedicated believer and work with Anthony to make sure things continue to go right here with FOX. This is a most exciting evolution and one that I am grateful for.”

CHERRY HILL, New Jersey—FOX Rehabilitation is proud to announce the promotion of Anthony Buccafurni, PT, DPT, to Chief Executive Officer, effective May 23, 2025. Dr. Buccafurni, previously FOX’s Chief Operating Officer, succeeds Dr. Robyn Kjar, who became CEO in 2020. Dr. Kjar will stay involved with FOX, acting as Advisor to the Practice.

Receiving his Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy in 2002 from Temple University School of Health Sciences, Dr. Buccafurni’s journey with FOX began in 2003 when he was hired as a treating physical therapist. From the start, his leadership skills were apparent, and he was quickly promoted to the position of Regional Director. After building and expanding two New Jersey-based teams, Dr. Buccafurni was elevated to Senior Regional Director. His relentless work ethic and close attention to detail saw him earn the roles of Director of Clinical Operations, Chief Clinical Operations Officer, and, in 2020, Chief Operating Officer.

Dr. Kjar said, “What a great day. During my time as CEO, Anthony has been my right-hand person. I remember when our founder, Dr. Tim Fox, hired him at the beach in New Jersey. We have worked with each other for over 20 years, and it is just the right time. Kjar added, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome—and just be happy for my friend—Dr. Anthony Buccafurni, my successor as CEO.”

This CEO transition is the result of years of thoughtful planning and continued commitment to FOX’s tradition of upward mobility. It signals continuity, where FOX’s mission, strategy, and day-to-day work operations remain unchanged.

Working closely together over the last two decades, Dr. Buccafurni and Dr. Kjar helped expand FOX into 38 states and have steered the practice through the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple Medicare reimbursement cuts, and major M&A expansions— all while achieving the highest revenue in FOX’s history and improving the lives of more older adults than ever before.

“FOX will continue to drive towards clinical practice at the top of professional licensure, extending the reach of practicing clinicians as we face an aging population that requires more proactive functional health care,” said Dr. Buccafurni. “We will continue to leverage technology and innovation to provide more direct patient interaction; and FOX will make available the tools necessary for all of our colleagues to provide clinically excellent care, as we have done for years.”

Whether it is advocating for patients’ rights on Capitol Hill or happily attending a regional team get-together—no matter if it is in New York, Houston, or Phoenix—Dr. Buccafurni is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, and get it done right.

Off the clock, Anthony can be found attending his sons’ sporting events with his wife, Rebekah. With a son in high school and another in college, Dr. Buccafurni commented, “Over the years I have graduated from coaching my boys to watching them—and loving every second of it.” Family runs deep for Anthony who proudly admits that his parents and wife are the “most supportive people ever.” Being the son of the “best pediatric nurse known to man” and a healthcare administrator, Buccafurni explained, “I grew up understanding the balance between clinical care—always putting people first—and an appreciation of the business behind healthcare.” As a classically trained pianist, Anthony is also the frontman and keyboardist of an acclaimed New Jersey Shore cover band.

As a baseball coach, band leader, and now the new CEO of FOX Rehabilitation, Dr. Buccafurni’s tireless devotion to all clinical professions, the older population and FOX, instantly ice-breaking personality, and ability to make everyone feel like a valued member of the team, are traits that will keep FOX colleagues laughing hard and working hard, while changing the game of healthcare one patient at a time.
