FOX Rehabilitation – Geriatric Therapy at Home, was founded in 1998 by myself Tim Fox, PT, DPT, GCS. I am a practicing Physical Therapist and CEO of FOX Rehabilitation – Geriatric Therapy at Home. I graduated from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA with a Master's of Science in Physical Therapy in 1995 and began my career at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Following Thomas Jefferson, I became Director of Rehabilitation for a healthcare facility belonging to the Genesis Elder Care Company. My efforts led the facility to receive its first Joint Commission Accreditation for Sub-Acute and Long-Term Care. I also established and implemented intensive rehabilitation programs and protocols that significantly improved the quality of care for my facilities' clients.
While I valued my time with Genesis, I felt that more autonomy in my work would enable me to provide a more personal and convenient type of care, which in turn would produce more functional and useful outcomes for my clients. My interest in the unique needs of the elderly allowed me to identify a gap and significant limitation in how the elderly accesses and receives necessary Physical and Occupational therapies.
There is a large portion of the elderly population that is in need of therapy services which are effective in improving current levels of function, safety and quality of life. I believe, and therefore it is the philosophy of FOX, that the elderly should perform at their maximum functional level regardless of past and current medical conditions. To meet this need I formed FOX Rehabilitation – Geriatric Therapy at Home.
Traditionally, there were only two ways for the elderly to access therapies: through outpatient clinics and home health agencies. Typically, patients must meet “homebound” criteria and have an acute onset of an illness in order to receive treatment through a home health agency. Home health agency plans of care are limited in both frequency and duration of therapy treatments due to Medicare Part A Homecare regulations. Access and consistency of care are limiting issues with outpatient clinics.
FOX developed, and is currently practicing, a new unique method of delivery that allows the elderly to access medically necessary therapies on a consistent basis that produce functional results. FOX Rehabilitation – Geriatric Therapy at Home is a Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy practice specializing in homecare for the older adult. FOX Rehabilitation is not a home health agency thus patients do not need to meet homebound criteria to receive Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy in the home.
